Profile

BSc. Biochemistry with a Placement Year. University of Warwick 2017-2021

Dissertation Title: Investigation into the pollutant-degrading capabilities of river-dwelling microbes.

Placement year: Micropathology Ltd. 2019-2020. Diagnostic Lab assistant.

MSc. Environmental Biosciences in a Changing Climate. University of Warwick 2021-2022

Dissertation Title: Connecting root dynamics to nitrogen cycle rates in woodland soil.

PhD title: Expanding virus-mediated reverse genetic techniques to address global weed research questions

Adapt and optimise Virus-Mediated Reverse Genetics (VMRG) techniques for use in Amaranthus and Lolium species and then use VMRG to explore whether the specific genes are necessary or sufficient for non-target site resistance (NTSR) in these species. Building on work completed in black-grass (Alopecurus myosuroides) where virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) and virus-mediated overexpression (VOX) was able to transiently reduce or induce gene expression of specific targets.
